GHANA REOPENS LAND AND SEA BORDERS


The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has announced the reopening of Ghana's land and sea borders effective March 28, 2022. The land and sea borders were closed in March 2020 to curb the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

He announced this as part of measures to ease the restrictions brought on by the pandemic in light of the reduced active cases in the country. Reopening the borders is also to lessen the economic impact on various sectors of the economy brought on by the pandemic.


Impact on immigration:
This means that persons travelling by road and sea to and from Ghana may now do so in accordnace with immigration and health guidelines.

Revised COVID-19 guidelines:
. Effective March 28, 2022, all persons travelling to Ghana must observe the following COVID-19 guidelines.

. Fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed entry through the land and sea borders without a negative PCR test result from the country of origin and will not be tested upon arrival.


Citizens and foreign residents in Ghana, who are not fully vaccinated, will have to produce a negative 48-hour PCR test result and an antigen test. They will also be offered vaccination on arrival.
